At Markham Landscaping Services we pride ourselves in being the best.
Our steps for SOD INSTALLATION are:
We take a tiller and till the area that will require the new sod. The tiller serves two purposes; first it will remove the old turf and secondly and more importantly it will loosen up the new soil. So that the roots of the new sod will have a nice base to grow in.
We start leveling and grating to accommodate the sod
We then try and make sure that the entire area is as level as possible
Raise the sprinklers head, so that the top of the head is about an inch above the finish grade.
Now that everything has been grated out we apply slow release fertilizer. This will stimulate root growth in the new sod
After fertilizing the next step is to lay out the sod. When laying sod it is important to stagger the edges
The final step is to trim the edge and to wet the sod down. Then the sod will need to be watered three times a day for about 7-8 minutes each watering so that the roots stay nice and moist and don't dry out
